How to fit your new Solubrux dental gutter

Congratulations on your new Solubrux teeth grinding guard.

For Solubrux to fulfill its therapeutic functions, the splint must be carefully adapted.

This short amateur video shows you the different stages of a correct adaptation. Take the time to watch this video, possibly several times, in order to succeed in adapting it perfectly to your teeth.

In the box you will find the Solubrux splint with its accessories in the storage box. This box is sealed and indicates that it has never been opened.

We are now assembling the holding fork and the bite guard. Make sure that the two reference points are pointing upwards.

We now take the Solubrux gutter and slide it into the openings provided for this purpose until it stops on the support fork.

If done correctly, the occlusal liner is in good contact with the lower part of the splint.

In the meantime, we boiled some water and poured it into the chosen container, here a large cup, and went in front of a mirror, preferably in the bathroom where a tap is also available.

Now we completely immerse the SoluBrux rail in boiling water while looking at a watch with a second hand or a stopwatch. The immersion time should be around 15 seconds. You don’t have to worry about burning yourself when you put SoluBrux in your mouth. During these 15 seconds, the material becomes hot enough to be deformed but it is not hot. However, if you are very sensitive, here’s a tip: while boiling water, rinse your mouth with cold water and spit it out before removing the tray from the water.

Briefly shake the hot water and look at the splint. If the side edges are a little saggy, spread them a little to make it easier to insert the tray into the mouth and not bite the edges. This will render the gutter unusable. Of course, you have to act quickly so that the material is still malleable when you put SoluBrux in your mouth in front of the mirror. Proceed carefully so as not to compress the edges. Be sure to insert the gutter in the middle. Then close your mouth and bite very hard normally, without moving the lower jaw forward or to the side. This results in a uniform layer thickness between all teeth, which allows all teeth to be in contact simultaneously during nighttime grinding, a basic requirement for a functional bite guard.

Nested incorrectly

Fitted correctly

For the fit to be perfect, you need to create a vacuum by sucking the saliva out of the mouth and pressing your tongue hard against the palate with your mouth closed. If you practice beforehand, you will find that the tongue thus presses on the palate but also on the teeth and that the still malleable material of the gutter thus adapts to the shape of your teeth. In order for SoluBrux to be really well fixed, you must at the same time massage your cheeks from the outside to strengthen the imprint.

Stay in this position for at least a minute for the material to cool. Then carefully remove Solubrux from your mouth and let it cool under cold running water for one to two minutes.

You can now remove the splint from the holding fork with the occlusal liner. However, keep these parts for a possible later readjustment.

Your SoluBrux is now ready to use.

Thanks to suction and massage, the edges fit the teeth well and guarantee great comfort. By biting hard, the splint also adapted to the horizontal arrangement of the teeth, but thanks to the patented occlusal liner, it does not leave imprints of the cusps of the teeth of the lower jaw. This is extremely important and is the second essential condition for a good grinding splint, because if such nicks were on the underside of the splint, the teeth of the lower jaw would catch on them during the lateral grinding movement. As it is known that during the unconscious nocturnal movement, the teeth of the jaw clench more or less.
